Hypochlorite and chlorine dioxide were used to disinfect hospital waste‐water sludge. Their abilities to inactivate pathogenic micro‐organisms were compared. Reductions in indigenous coliform organisms and Pseudomonas aeruginosa were estimated. The results indicate that hypochlorite is a better disinfectant than chlorine dioxide for coliforms.
